Periodically, we offer competitive grant opportunities to land trusts, including for the following purposes:

  1. Guided assessment using Land Trust Standards & Practices as a guide.
  2. Mentoring services from the Land Trust Alliance and Gathering Waters to implement an element of Land Trust Standards & Practices.
  3. Small grants ($1,000-$5,000) to be used to accomplish a needed activity that propels a land trust to a higher level of performance.

Through a competitive call for innovative project proposals, these Wisconsin land trusts were awarded LEAP grants to pursue these exciting endeavors in 2017-18:

  • Driftless Area Land Conservancy: Advance plans to create a regional hiking trail system by engaging a steering committee and citizen advisory council
  • Door County Land Trust: Ensure ongoing invasive species control by mobilizing local residents as stewardship partners
  • Tall Pines Conservancy: Forge strong collaboration with area organizations to improve watershed-based land conservation and water quality management
  • The Prairie Enthusiasts: Propel prairie protection and restoration forward with a model for collaborative and sustainable organization chapters

Future grant cycles will be announced as funding allows.
