at Monroe, WI
. The conference will open with a roundtable discussion by some of our first members including Gary Eldred, John Ochsner, Jonathan Wilde and Gary Felder who will talk about their early prairie experiences including the April 13, 1975, burn at Muralt Bluff Prairie in Green County. Then Mark Leach will revisit the sites surveyed by John Curtis in preparation for his 1959 book, “The Vegetation of Wisconsin.” This will be followed by the TPE Land Management Committee discussing prescribed fire today, from insurance to burn plans. After lunch we will have breakout sessions which feature prairie photography, prairie butterflies, local birding hotspots, environmental education in the public schools, stages of restoration and the biological control of garlic mustard.
