2009 was a good year for Wisconsin working lands.
The state budget passed in June included a long-awaited package of programs to help preserve Wisconsin farmland. Among those is a Purchase of Agricultural Conservation Easement (or PACE) program that will help pay farmers interested in selling development rigths to land trusts or local governemtns, thereby ensuring that the land will be available for agriculture for generations to come.
The Working Lands Initiative programs are currently under construction at the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Follow the links below for updated information about the future of Wisconsin workinglands.
