Land Trust Standards & Practices Grants

These grants are available to land trusts through a periodic application process.  Participants receive an individualized service plan including a Guided Organizational Assessment, help creating a detailed implementation plan to accomplish improvements identified in the assessment, mentoring from LEAP program staff and consultants, and a grant to address one or more of the highest priority improvements.  Participation in these intensive services requires dedication by board and staff and a demonstrated capacity to sustain a long-term improvement effort (up to 2 years).

Through this signature LEAP offering, participants receive a Guided Organizational Assessment, help creating a detailed implementation plan to accomplish improvements identified in the assessment, mentoring from LEAP staff, and a small cash grant to address one or more of the land trust’s highest priority needs.

Before applying, we encourage land trusts to discuss this commitment with the board of directors.  This is a big commitment from all parties, and we want to make sure expectations are clear. A board/staff teleconference may be part of the application review process.
