Governor Signs State Budget
The state budget was signed by Governor Walker yesterday, and the final version did not include any partial vetoes related to the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program. Therefore, the provisions on Stewardship that passed in the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee will now become law, including:
- A roll back funding for the Stewardship Program to the previously authorized level of $60 million a year;
- Reinstating aids in lieu of property taxes to local governments; and
- Reinstating the use of conservation easements in the Stewardship Program
