Some questions to think about when writing your Stewardship story:
• What types of activities do you enjoy
doing at your favorite Stewardship place?
• What makes this place so important to you, your family,
or your community?
• Do you or your family have any special traditions that are
centered here?
• Are there any historical or ecological features that make
this place particularly special to you?
• Why do you believe it is important that this place has been
protected?
Format: While we
expect that most stories will be written in a casual prose, we also
welcome you to submit photos, poems, drawings, or other artwork
that portrays your personal connection with Wisconsin’s natural
places.
Details: Alongside
each story, we will print a sidebar with quantitative information
about each Stewardship property. Don’t worry about telling
us how many acres it encompasses, or in what year the land was preserved.
We hope you will tell us the intangible side of the story—the
things we might never learn about the place without hearing from
you.
Length: We are happy
to work with stories both long and short, but we anticipate that
most stories will be within the range of 250-750 words. If you feel
you need more than 750 words to tell your story, please contact
us and we will work with you.
Timeline: We will
be collecting stories through the summer. If you have a story you
would like to share, please contact us as soon as possible so we
can save a space in the publication for you. We are excited to help
share your story about how Stewardship properties have affected
you!
Submitting your story:
You can send us your story via e-mail, either as the main message
body or as an attachment. E-mailed stories should be directed to
andrea@gatheringwaters.org.
