Presenters
William P. O’Connor: Mr.
O’Connor is a partner with Wheeler, Van Sickle & Anderson
in Madison. He is actively involved in municipal and land use law,
water resources and public policy in Wisconsin. His land and water
practice includes representation of the Wisconsin Association of
Lakes, Gathering Waters Conservancy, and the Wisconsin Society of
Land Surveyors. He also represents numerous local units of government
and nonprofit organizations. Mr. O’Connor has served on several
Wisconsin Legislative Council Study Committees and has provided
legislative counsel and lobbying advocacy for more than 20 years.
He has served as a director and board chair of the Land Trust Alliance
in Washington, D.C., and in various appointed state and local government
boards. Mr. O’Connor earned his J.D. from the University of
Wisconsin Law School. He served as law clerk to former Wisconsin
Supreme Court Justice Roland B. Day (1979-1980).
Christopher B. Hughes: Mr. Hughes
is a partner with Stafford Rosenbaum, LLP in Madison. His practice
focuses on general municipal law, corporate law and real estate
and contract matters. Mr. Hughes is co-author of the municipal law
chapter of the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Annual Survey of Wisconsin
Law. He was a presenter at the “Counties and Land: Liabilities
and Responsibilities” seminar sponsored by the Counties Association.
Mr. Hughes is a member of the Board of Directors of the Natural
Heritage Land Trust in Dane County. Mr. Hughes earned his J.D. degree
cum laude from Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington.
Johanna J. London: Ms. London
is an associate in the Madison office of Michael Best and Friedrich,
LLP and a member of their Wealth Planning Services Group. Her practice
includes all areas of estate and financial planning, probate and
trust administration, taxation and elder law. Ms. London is a Certified
Public Accountant. She has authored articles on estate planning
and tax law related to conservation easements published in the Journal
of State Taxation, Wisconsin Law Review, and Estate Planning. Ms.
London has been a presenter at Wisconsin State Bar-sponsored CLE
seminars on estate planning. She serves on the Boards of Directors
of the Natural Heritage Land Trust, the Friends of the UW Arboretum,
and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Madison, Inc. Ms. London
was awarded her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
