Gathering Waters Conservancy offers its supporters the opportunity to
put Wisconsin land conservation in a global context. We have partnered
with an educational and ecotourism organization to offer expert-led tours
to places where private land conservation is protecting unique cultural
and natural resources. If you’re interested in traveling
to new places and learning, first hand, about conservation issue faced
by communities throughout the world, join us on our next trip.

Gathering Waters Conservancy is hosting its inaugural
trip to Costa Rica, February 19 – 28, 2010. By foot, boat and horseback you
will explore Costa Rica’s rainforests, mangroves, and cloudforests
and enjoy educational lectures by local scientists and conservationists. Tour
size is limited to 16 people to ensure a high-quality and personal
experience for our guests.
Hike the virgin rainforest trails of Savegre
in search of the Resplendent Quetzal – a birder's ultimate find. Tour
the Tirimbina Rainforest center – a biological reserve and science
education facility founded by the Milwaukee Public Museum and the Riveredge Nature Center. Explore
the rainforest at night in search of nocturnal creatures. Visit
Costa Rica’s most
famous national park, Manuel Antonio, known for its beautiful beaches,
incredible diversity and one of the last remaining places to find squirrel
monkeys.
See
scarlet macaws, two-toed sloths, crocodiles, white-faced capuchins, coatimundis,
peccaries, howler and spider monkeys, and caimans. And
visit a local banana plantation to learn about farming and harvesting
