What: Celebration honoring leaders
across the state for creatively using the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship
Fund in preserving the places that make Wisconsin special
Where: Monona Terrace, Madison
When: Thursday, October 13, 2005
from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
The third annual Awards Celebration was particularly
special because it coincided with the 15th Anniversary of the Knowles-Nelson
Stewardship Fund – the state’s foremost land conservation
program. Since its inception, the Stewardship Fund has protected
an impressive 330,000 acres throughout the state. To commemorate
this achievement, the 2005 award winners were chosen, in part, to
highlight creative use of this program.
Joan Ziegler, Gathering Waters Conservancy's Board
President, and Christine Neurenberg, Mequon Mayor and a 2004 award
winner herself, co-hosted the very successful 2005 celebratation.
Nearly 300 people RSVP'd, and a good time was had by all.
